My first big trip alone was in September 2001. Yes, I was traveling by myself on 9/11. I was on a road trip, which is the only good thing about traveling that day.
I continued my trip, knowing there was nothing I could do, so I followed the news, and I talked to people.
I probably talked to more strangers on this trip then on any other, because people needed people, and we bonded in our collective mourning over the events of this time.
This might have been enough to scare a lot of people from flying, but more so it made me see, how short life can be. I decided that there was a lot of this world that I wanted to see, so my journey continued, and I've been going ever since.
I've spent 7 weeks (in groups of 2 or 3 weeks at a time) on road trips in the USA.
I've spent over 6 weeks (in groups of 2 or 3 weeks at a time) by myself in France.
I've been on 2 bus tours, and though I ride the bus, and have breakfast and dinner with the group, I spend much of my free time on my own.
When I've traveled with family or friends, I always spend some of my time doing my own little adventure, too.>
You can travel out and see the world, on your own. Yes, you can solo, too!
